Intake

So today was the intake appointment. It consists of just a bunch of paperwork and questions and a list of things that will need to be accomplished over the next few months.

We were given the first few papers for the Homestudy and told about the schedule for the MAPP classes that we have to attend. We start those on the 8th of January and should be finished by the 12th of March, then she said they submit to the courts for our licence and then adoption certifications after we get a pre-adopt placement.

They expect to be completed and we should be licensed in April or early May. A few months short of our July move, but at least everything will be in the works just encase we don't get a placement right away, or encase they need us to accept placement right away.

We stated our age groups were school age 5-18. With a few exceptions for behaviors and sexual abuse. I do not think I can handle those right now. However, we are getting the additional certification hours after licensing for medically fragile children. Since I work within that field, it was a naturally a field that has pulled at my heart.

Soooo.... she did mention that the first year you only are licensed for 2 placements in the home at one time. I wonder however if that would be waved for a larger sibling group after we move and we have the bigger house with all those bedrooms available.

You know how sometimes rules and thing change when it comes to desperate needs of the system.
