Clothes

What happened to the days when foster kids came with a trash bag... not a pickup filled with clothes and random things? Of course this is not your usual case and these are good things to have (because I don't have to buy them starter clothes) but dang this is a lot of work!

  1. Our two girls came with tubs of stuff. On the surface it seemed like a lot but once we sorted out the clohting that didn't fit, was stained and that they really didn't like there actually wasn't much. They also had tubs of stuffed animals and broken toys. some of it I put right back into the tubs and put in storage. I have three girls ages 6, 7 and 7 who are just a little different in shape but sometimes the same size. I started putting an initial on the item to make sorting easy. I really need to do that now since they have grown out of the clohting with the initials.

  2. Yes as I sort I am finding the same things. All the toys broken, all the stuffed animals are long forgotten and mostly there are a million and 1 school uniforms.

  3. The dot system works well for sorting clothes. Uses dots by age- oldest gets one dot on the tag, second gets 2, third gets 3. Makes passing clothes down easy too. I also put an initial on the toe of socks.
